Paula Jones started New Ideas in Communications (then called Paula E. Jones Consulting) in January 1998.

In the summer of 2002, she accepted a full-time job with Tensilica as the Director of Corporate Communications. Jeff and Paula worked together on the launch of Tensiica. Current activity with New Ideas is limited to financial management.

Before she started New Ideas in Communications, she was as Director of Corporate Communications at MMC Networks, an exciting, growing company that makes chips for networking equipment. She helped the company through their October 1997 IPO while managing the day-to-day communications.

From 1993 to 1996, she headed communications at Synopsys. Besides managing a staff that grew from six to 25 people, she personally managed internal and external communications for several mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships. She was a major participant in the team that established the company's award-winning Internet site.

From 1989 through 1993, she helped Cirrus Logic grow from a $35 million to a $500 million company, playing a major role in their IPO and financial communications while managing all marketing communications. Once public, she handled all day-to-day investor relations while managing a rapidly growing communications department. She personally managed the internal and external communications for several major mergers and acquisitions.

In the mid-1980's, she headed communications at VLSI Technology, Inc., while the company grew from $70 million to over $300 million in revenue.

Paula's experience also includes being a copywriter at Bozell & Jacobs Advertising, an account supervisor at Burson-Marsteller PR, and working for Datapoint, Data General and Texas Instruments. She has managed national TV, radio, print and co-op ad campaigns, conducted major product launches, coordinated numerous trade shows, and has hands-on experience with just about every aspect of communications.

Paula has an MBA in marketing and economics from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, and has done graduate work in computer engineering at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Her undergraduate degree is in journalism from the University of Illinois.
